Happy Birthday Levi!!!

My younger brother Levi is having a really cool month so far.  He graduated from HVAC school, he and his wife Megan announced that they are expecting their second child, he started a new job and he just celebrated his 30th Birthday!  Now that's what I call a great month!!!  So proud of you bro!

I decided to use the neck tie stamps and saying from the "For a Special Guy" set from Two Paper Divas for Levi's birthday card.  I started with white card stock and then added an orange striped paper on top of that.  Then I cut out a slightly smaller piece of aqua striped paper and then a slightly smaller piece of white card stock.  I stamped the ties using three different colors and cut each one out.  Then I made them pop to give the card a 3-D look.  The saying is actually two sayings (both from the same stamp set) that I pieced together.  I stamped one in aqua ink and the other in orange ink.  I cut each word out and tilted them different directions for a fun look!

Seams like forever...

Some of my favorite clothes growing up were handmade by my mom.  In the 80's it was more cost effective to make your own clothing, so that's what my mom did. She made all of my dresses, jumpers and skirts from patterns that she bought.  The best part about this was that you could pick out which fabrics to use and what colors you wanted your clothes to be.  I remember we had a few matching outfits, which I thought was super cool! :)  I miss those days!  Do any of you remember you or your mom making your own clothes?  Now days, kids wouldn't even know what a pattern is and it's not as economical.

Check out my latest creation featuring two new stamp sets by Two Paper Divas.  The pincushion topper is from "Large Mason Jar Toppers" and the sentiment and scissors are from the set "Sew Much Fun."

I don't know if you can see around the edges, but I used a stitched die cut to tie in the sewing theme on this card.  I liked the aqua checked paper with all the red accents.  The mason jar was stamped and cut out as well as the pincushion topper.  I added a couple of stick pins to the topper and filled the jar with aqua buttons.  The scissors have been colored with Copics and cut out and popped.  Isn't the "Seams like forever..." a sweet little sentiment?  To finish this sewing card off, I added a burlap and red stitched bow and a couple of sequins which are also from Two Paper Divas.

Last week, I told you I would show you a picture of my grandma's antique thread box.  I was blessed to inherit it from my Grandma Flora.  It works perfectly in my little card making room.  The drawers are large enough to hold all those 12x12 papers, thread, ribbon, dies, ink pads, etc.  I LOVE IT!!!

May Stamp Release from Two Paper Divas

Here are two cards I made using stamps from the May Stamp Release from Two Paper Divas.  The first features the new set "Sew Much Fun."
I thought this yellow and white check was adorable for the background paper.  I topped it with an orange striped scalloped circle and then a pierced circle.  (Check out the paper, it's got sewing patterns on it!)  Isn't the needle and thread along with the sentiment just the sweetest?  The spool with orange and white twine is also a stamp that I cut out.  I added some sequins, a paper tape measure and a little paper flower with an orange button and stick pin.  The flower is layered with several pieces of an old sewing pattern that was my Grandma Flora's.  Be sure to stop back by for a few pictures of an antique spool box I got from my Grandma that sits in my card room and is perfect for storing all those papers, ink, stamps, etc.

My next card showcases Two Paper Divas new set called "Paper Elements 2."  It's a notebook page!  Too cute, right??!!
I started by creating a pocket to insert the notebook page, which I finished off with mini white rickrack.  The bottom of the card is topped with five white buttons with twine.  I wanted to stamp a saying on the notebook page, so I used "You Make Me Smile" which is also from Two Paper Divas.  The orange sunshine is from their "You Are My Sunshine" set.

Fun in the Sun!

We're really enjoying some "fun in the sun" in our neck of the woods!  The weather has been wonderful and you just can't help getting out and spending some time in the great outdoors.  We've taken our two dogs to a local park several nights this past week for a little exercise.  It's perfect for the entire family with several trails, a large pond, soccer and baseball fields and a kid's area.  I sure hope you are getting some quality time outside these days.  Check out my card for this week featuring three stamp sets from Two Paper Divas, "Let Freedom Ring," "Life's a Breeze" and "Wanna Hang Out."

I started with a tan and white checked print for the background.  I then stamped the clothesline on white cardstock and used copics to color it.  The fence and grass are die cuts which I popped for a 3-D effect.  The banners, mini clothespins and the flip flops at the bottom are all stamps from Two Paper Divas which I cut out.  Aren't they cute?  This card was super fun to create!
