Happy Haunting!

This week marked the first day of the fall season. Yeah!  Autumn is my very favorite for several reasons: the changing colors of the trees, cooler temperatures, corn shocks, pumpkins, gourds, straw bales, boots with leggings, chunky sweaters, apple cider, I could go on forever!  Our house is all decked out on the interior and I'm hoping to get the outside done this next week!  I love decorating for the seasons!

Today, I decided to make a Halloween tag using one of the spooky new stamp sets from Two Paper Divas called "Halloween Silhouettes."   I used every single stamp in the set to make this tag.  It's honestly become one of my favorites.  The "Happy Haunting" saying is also from Two Paper Divas.  I started by cutting a tag out of kraft paper and then layering a tan Halloween paper with different words on it.  The black and white star paper was then added on top of the mini polka dot horizontal piece.  I stamped the fence, tombstone, crow, moon and bat on card stock and cut them out.  The moon and bat have been popped for a little dimension.  To complete this scary tag, I added the "31" metal oval by Tim Holtz, orange glittered dots, black pom pom ribbon to the bottom, black ribbon with a black and orange button and twine.

Thanks for stopping by Kirby's Kards today to check out my latest creation!  Hope I didn't scare you too much with this "spook-tacular"tag!

Make it a great day!

Have a "Tie"rific Birthday!

"Cause every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man!"  Do you remember that song by ZZ Top?  When I hear that, I always think of my Uncle Sam!  He's always had a suit and tie kind of job and I can remember teasing him as a little kid that he had soooooooo many neckties, but they certainly gave him sharp dressed look.  Well, Uncle Sam's birthday is next week so as I was thinking about what kind of card to make, I knew these little neckties were just perfect!

I started with a couple "manly" gray and brown papers for my backgrounds.  The outer paper has been die cut with little stitches around the edges.  The next paper was cut and popped to add some dimension and then a smaller kraft paper was also cut and popped as well.  These adorable ties are from Two Paper Divas stamp set "For a Special Guy."  They were all stamped in brown ink on kraft paper and then cut out and popped.  The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is also from Two Paper Divas.  I then added a brown leaf stick pin in the center of my brown and white twine bow.

BIG Birthday Wishes

September is a busy birthday card month for me.  This card I am sharing today is going to a 95 year old friend who lives at Riverview Estates in Marquette, KS.  He's a great guy that I had the privilege of waiting on at the bank and the cafe every Sunday after church.  Don never missed sending my hubby and me a birthday or Christmas card that he made on his computer.  So, Don this card is for you on your 95th birthday!

"BIG Birthday Wishes" is one of the latest stamps from Two Paper Divas and I wanted to make it the focal point of my card.  So, first I stamped the image in black ink and used Copic markers to color it in.  My color scheme on this card came from the patterned papers which featured red, yellow and aqua.  The yellow checked paper is punched with a scalloped trim and a red checked bow was added to the top.  To finish my card, I added a few clear sequins.

Sassy Trees

Two Paper Divas just released their latest stamp sets for the month of September and I'm loving "Sassy Trees!!!"  The set includes three different sized trees with little tree stands as well as different patterns to stamp on each tree.  Love, love, love!

I wanted to change things up from making cards all the time, so I hope you enjoy this homemade ornament that I came up with.  I think it will be a great addition to one of our trees this year!  I decided to go with a blue, gold and white color scheme for this ornament.  I started with a mini snowflake patterned paper for the background and then stamped a couple of snowflakes on it using "Warm Winter Wishes" also from Two Paper Divas.  The three trees were stamped on white card stock using brown, navy and light blue ink and popped on top of the background paper.  I cut the tree stands out of kraft paper to incorporate that brown/gold color.  The two layers of hills were glittered for a snowy effect!  The "Snowy Greetings" sentiment was just perfect for this project, so I stamped it on white card stock, cut it out and popped it as well.  I glued brown and white twine around the edges and attached the plastic ornament topper to the paper.  Super fun project!

Here's a couple different angles:

Deck the Halls

Happy Labor Day Weekend!  Hope everyone is having a fun and safe three day weekend (or if you're like me, a four day weekend).  Today I decided to beat the Christmas rush and started working on making Christmas cards.  Hey, it's never too early to start working on those things, right??!!  Especially if you have a long list of special people to send them to!!!

For this card, I started with kraft paper for my background, added an olive and white checked paper and then white card stock that I rounded the edges on.  I stamped the pine branch twice in two different shades of green.  Aren't the Christmas ornaments hanging from the branch cute?  The three different Christmas ornaments are from Two Paper Divas new set called "Deck the Halls."  I stamped the string with bows in black ink on the white paper.  The ornaments were stamped, colored with a gold Wink of Stella pen and then cut out.  I wanted them to really stand out, so I popped each one of them.  I was having so much fun with my gold glitter pen, so I used it on the branch and the "Deck the Halls" sentiment at the bottom to carry over the gold, shiny look for this card,.  Finally, I finished this "fancy" card by adding three gold pearls to the top right corner.

Thanks for taking a minute to check out my blog today!  Only 111 days until Christmas, one card down, a whole lot more to go.

Make it a great day!
