Let's Go Fly A Kite

"Let's go fly a kite, up to the highest height!  Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring!  Up through the atmosphere, up where the air is clear, oh let's go fly a kite!" (from Mary Poppins, by Robert Sherman) Doesn't that song bring back some good old memories?  I remember going out to a field across from our house with my brother and flying a kite on one of those perfect breezy Kansas days. :)  So much fun!
This is my first time to play with this stamp set from Two Paper Divas.  There's a ton of stamps in this set, so the possibilities really are endless!  I wanted to use the kite stamp for today, so I experimented with it using the latest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  Check it out:
To begin, I picked out my papers from a stack of yellows, grays and blacks from Authentique.  I wanted to make parts of the kites pop and use some different patterned papers to help give them that 3-D look.  I used some white rick rack on the one kite, followed by twine for the string.  I really like the saying, "Soar like never before" which is also from Two Paper Divas set called "You are my Sunshine."
In following with the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, I used a striped paper to separate the bottom portion of the card and topped it with a half circle of yellow paper.
May you have a blessed Easter, celebrating the joy that our Savior is not dead, for He has risen!  Yes, He is risen indeed!  Hallelujah!

Make it a great day!

  1. One of my favorite songs from Mary Poppins!! Love the yellow, black and white. Very cute!!!

  2. Great card! I really like the kites and the way you did the sentiment. Thanks for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches!
